Obviously we love astrology, but depending on how it’s practiced, there are some things that can go wrong and some moral issues that are potentially present that we should be considering. Yes, astrology is predictive and picking into the future is always nice, but it also bears certain risks and responsibilities. Today we’ll be talking a bit about what those potential risks are and how we can correct them and really make sure that astrology is used for the benefit of our spiritual development rather than a hindrance.
This brings up the first point here which is really the big question that we all have regarding life and whether it’s something that’s purely fated or it’s something that we have complete control over or maybe somewhere in the middle. If we want to use astrology, we have to really understand what our personal perspective, or opinion, is on this matter is, as that will inform us on how we’re going to be using astrology and also to understand the risks that can come with those different perspectives.
When we accept that a part of our life is fated, we also need to learn how to work with that because it’s not easy to accept that someone else has rulership in your own home, your own life, your own body. If we accept faith exists there is a certain access to elaborate processes that are more difficult in your life. Understand them better. Accept difficult circumstances.
Reflecting and understanding where things come from can be an important support and help bear the cross we have to bear every day. There’s just a reality that life will have difficult experiences in it. It doesn’t matter where you live what your background is you could be from the most impoverished place in the world or you might be a billionaire in a mansion. You will always still have hard, difficult things in life and positive, joyful experiences.
If we take this perspective of things being fated, then it really becomes up to us on how we accept these situations and really the freedom comes from that perspective of if certain things in our life we can’t change. Do we accept those willingly with grace, happiness even or do we bear a grudge for just the fact we have to go through them.
Looking at the chart from a fated perspective, the stoic philosophers from Greece were very much into astrology because it helped to give some foresight and they were very much of the idea that everything was fated. There was no wiggle room. You were just stuck with what you got.
In a way they used it to understand what fate is to be somewhat prepared and to give the opportunity in advance, before the things hit, to cultivate that acceptance and awareness of these things that will come in life and to be prepared to receive them with the grace that will make those weights easier to bear.
From a more modern perspective just the uniqueness of our difficulties to us is quite important because each difficulty is unique to the person that has to confront it. Not everyone has trouble in relationships. Not everyone has trouble in their career. But for some people those are their crosses. So understanding that for them it is somewhat different than for the rest and accepting that, accepting their difference can be a major source of support and power to deal with what they need to deal with.
They can feel more seen and understood, even if others cannot understand them – because for others it’s different than it is for me. And the ones for example that have little monetarily wise might have other valuable things in their life and may learn to cherish those better or may decide to develop a more spiritual approach to life. Some may remain grumpy that’s not excluded.
There is that maxim where, if you want to be happy, then the best thing to do is to really avoid any comparison with others and understand that, work with what you’ve got and the grass will always look greener on the other side. You look to your friends, your family, they seem to have more of this, more of that, less of the things that you don’t like. So, being able to really engage with that unique aspect of the configuration of your life can be really beneficial.
And having little or having difficulties are actually the things that can really help to cultivate a deeper spiritual process and a faster spiritual development in life. And you see it a lot in of people who had very strong spiritual lives were – the ones that had those malefic influences like Saturn in the second house which can actually be very positive in cultivating these more spiritual or service-orientated paths in life.
People who have have had extremely difficult experiences in a certain area of life -something really bad or really difficult happened to them and then they turned that around. They took that as a point of growth. They grew a lot and became helpers or decided to work with others for helping them cope with life. And managed to survive and continue living and actually thriving through that trauma and that experience they had to go through.
In modern astrology, there’s even planets that deal very specifically with those kinds of processes. Chiron (an asteroid) is quite a popular one to look at because it really embodies that sense of “the difficulty and challenge which, even if we can’t fix things in our life, can still guide towards become teachers/healers that support others”.
When we accept that some things are just the way they are that is the point at which we can actually use them in a way that becomes something really productive, constructive and can actually bring a deep a deeper kind of satisfaction to life rather than a superficial pleasure which comes and goes very quickly.
And that can help us also look at life from a different perspective. Maybe we didn’t manage the relationship we craved but we were needed in another area of life, in other circumstances, in another function. We had to sacrifice a part of our life so we can kind of achieve our purpose. We learn to deal with our inner wars that we have to fight every day, the ones that we can’t really resolve but we can only accept and fight on a daily basis.
One of the crucial benefits of astrology is being able to really see these things. Which areas of life are less likely to produce a lot of easy or beneficial results. So that you can understand how things are distributed in life.
If you never managed a relationship, never got married. Well, then what does your chart say? Where are the strong energy points? Where are the places where you can actually live something of deep meaning and something that will be really positive for the world around you. And there is where you can find that sense of purpose because that’s really what most of us are looking for. And what can we be doing with our life that gives it meaning, that gives us the motivation to continue every day? Astrology can really help find that point, find that path where you’re going to be gaining the most benefit from every single day.
As long as that doesn’t give us the sense of being powerless in more difficult areas of life because that’s the danger of it. When we look at it from that viewpoint, there is always the danger that it can act in a prohibitive way – just take our experiences away and not allow us to live our life to the fullest because we decide okay that’s an area that’s too difficult for me. Astrology has confirmed it. So, I’m going to completely decide not to live that out.
And some experiences, even if difficult, are meant to be lived through. It can be scary to be really open to things that are going to cause you difficulties and pain, but in the end, that’s how you grow and that’s how you can contribute with your growth to the whole.
And it does bring up one of the most negative possibilities that can come up when people are working with astrology – the creation of fear and desperation. Seeing difficult placements can give the feeling that all is lost even before you’ve given it a chance.
Watching transits and developing this kind of fear over what’s going to
happen is not very helpful because we should be working with a tool like astrology to reduce our fear, to reduce our anxieties. If it’s causing these things then there’s a serious question as to whether it’s a healthy practice or not.
That is something to really be on the lookout for. And that’s what really highlights the importance of, having other things in life – spiritual practices, could be psychotherapeutic practices, anything that helps to put things into perspective and actually use astrology to reduce your anxieties, fears and resistances to life.
Astrology is best not used as an excuse for not trying. Um, we do need to go through our challenges and as long as we are drawn to something, it’s probably something that our soul needs to experience at that point of our life. And even if “the” astrology confirms our fear of having to go through some difficulties, those are things that allow us to achieve a lot.
And it requires hard work and growth, but at the end it has a purpose. So even if you have a weak ruler of the 10th house, you still have to go to work every day. If you have strong Neptune placements, there will be a tendency to want to escape from things. But that doesn’t mean that it’s an excuse to go and get addicted to things or develop unhealthy relationships with people.
So really I guess astrology can indicate weak points, areas where we probably need to put a little bit more effort than we would naturally be inclined to. It’s recognizing the difficult things not as places we have to run away from, but places where we have to put more of our energy into and without expectation of big results.Just put the energy in because that’s
something that life is requiring of us to go through, so do it gracefully.
Like one thing that comes up is this idea in traditional astrology. Well, it gets quite criticized from a modern perspective because of this differentiation between benefic and malefic. But from the traditional perspective these are just things we either enjoy and like or things we don’t enjoy or don’t like.
But from a spiritual perspective those very things that we like and enjoy are often not the things that actually help us to develop and discover ourselves. It’s actually through a lot of the malefic influences, those things we don’t like, the things that challenge us that actually really help to open us up even more and really help us to strengthen our our capacity, strengthen our resolve, to face life with a greater level of I wouldn’t say detachment but yeah nonattachment to results.
It’s also that non-attachment that gives us a deeper and unshakable sense of freedom which really at the end of the day everyone is searching for. People want to expand and grow and feel that freedom which can only be found from within which comes from the encounters with the difficult sides to life. Well, the problem is often our modern perspective on life. We always strive for the good things, for the easy things, for the quick things.
And we forget that life is finding its expression in a dualistic place in a dualistic universe where there is light and darkness which is the base of astrology. We have light as a source of information. We cannot have good things without bad things. So life is one the good and the bad that’s one it’s just a scale.
From our viewpoint of western white people it’s very difficult to achieve that understanding of life as a mix of good and bad. But that’s strictly necessary for astrology to be useful. We need to understand that faith and free will work together. easy and hard work together. We need to invest our energy in what comes easy naturally to us and gives us joy, but also in what is hard and difficult for us.
The culture of the western modernized world is one that isn’t balanced. It accepts only one side to life. It accepts this perpetual idea of growth, enrichment, material gain on a perpetual level, romance. So, it’s emphasizing only this one side of life. It’s emphasizing Jupiter and Venus. That is what the culture idealizes.
And also putting Neptune on a pedestal – always going after illusions, striving for the glamorous external lifestyle; or even just having to go for drinks after work. This illusion of having the movie style life. It is true that Neptune is wonderful and beautiful. It’s all about this spiritual highest love really. But in everyday life it tends to express itself more as having illusions and not seeing things as they truly are.
And there is a certain neglect of understanding the value of Saturn and Mars which are about letting go, the diminishing and dealing with the hard core stuff of reality.
Astrology can be helpful in understanding what are the kind of archetypal energies that are functioning in the world, what this world really is made out of. The sole source of suffering in humanity is expecting things to be in some way that they just aren’t. Astrology can help to change our expectations to something that is a little bit closer hopefully to what really is and what the truth of life is.
We also need to differentiate between our ego desires and our soul desires because sometimes we crave or want certain things and we are not aware of where this desire is coming from. So using astrology as a lens can help understand ourselves better in that sense as well. It can help us see what we need to work towards achieving in life and also to accept that we may not achieve that even if we need to work towards it.
It helps us also really find the idea of success. We can redefine what success means to us personally and there we are in power. We are allowed to do that.
People who believe in reincarnation would say even if it doesn’t work out this life any work that you do put in is a preparation for success in succeedent lives and even if you don’t ascribe to reincarnation – there is a collective level of awareness and consciousness where all the work that we
do in our our life can go towards the possibility for others to achieve those things. It can help the collective conscious to be better prepared, to be able to manage whatever difficult experiences there are in a much more fluid and say insightful way.
Regardless of one’s belief, widening that perspective and accepting that things don’t have to happen or be perfect now can really help. It brings up this idea of time and cycles which is crucial in astrology. It is an incredibly useful tool to understand how certain processes will unfold in time and how long we might expect them to go on for or when they might resolve. This can be a helpful and useful aspect that astrology provides too.
The understanding of time and cycles can do a lot for us. It can give us limits if we’re crossing through a difficult phase in our life. Many of us remember their Saturn returns or an outer planet transit that look like someone took them right out of hell and implanted them in their life. So knowing about cycles can really help to put one foot in front of the other in a situation that’s more difficult.
Anything that is difficult becomes a bit less difficult when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. When you’re in it, you can think this isn’t forever. This is going to end. That’s you could say one of the balms that astrology can really give us. As soon as certain transit finishes, suddenly things just start moving again. They start working.
It is also about the timing of the things that we want to go out and achieve. If you want to find the best moment to start an endeavor, looking at things like trines in transits can be helpful. Those are things that normally we’re not forced to do. They’re more like opportunities that might come about. So astrology can give clues as to times where we should be a little bit more tuned in and looking out for opportunities in certain areas of life so we can actually catch a hold of them and make the best use of the positive opportunities we are given.
But there is also the pitfall of using astrology as an excuse for not starting something as it might feel like the wrong time, the wrong place. Through that avoid dealing with things that our soul actually desires to do. That’s a negative that’s not supposed to happen. We are supposed to live our lives also instinctively like we feel we need to do. Um so using astrology as an excuse is not a good thing. A Neptune transit is not an excuse for drinking or not dealing with a dependency or depression issue or a Saturn transit is not an excuse for having a bad mood for a year or two.
Because the planets have so many different qualities and ways of expressing themselves, we have a certain amount of power to decide what kind of expression do we want this planet to take for example with Neptune rather than drinking use this transit to develop a meditation practice or to work with some creative mediums like art or music because both of those do fall under the the realms of Neptune and what it can represent.
When it comes to the difficult and negative transits, the malefic transits, it’s actually an opportunity to think and reflect what is this planet all about? What are the best ways that this planet can express itself? And yes , sometimes these things express themselves outside of our control. But there are lots of situations where we have the the potential to work towards the best possible expression.
If Saturn’s there, it’s like okay, let’s get a bit of discipline. Let’s get ready to just remove old things from the life that aren’t really of service anymore and are holding me back and let’s work hard. It’s about understanding the possibilities that even the difficult transits bring and not resign ourselves to the lowest expressions that they might be promoting otherwise.
We would normally get presented with a problem, let’s say it’s Neptune, it would be dissolving something in our life. It would be taking something away from us. Be the relationship, be it the job. The thing is how do we react to that? Do we grab the bottle or do we decide that we want to develop ourselves spiritually? It’s our reaction that we always get to choose.
Some of us might be prone to avoid dealing with problems that present during transits exactly because they understand that’s a transit. Well, the thing is the problems are not going to disappear just because the transit has passed. The job of a transit is to show when they come into your life. It’s not how you react and work with them and how quickly you solve them. You’re just meant to deal with something at that time. How you deal with it, it’s up to you.
Astrology is a certain way of looking at the map. So, we get a chance to look at this map, a time based one of how things might be progressing and moving. But it’s really important to not neglect that intuitive side of our lives. We should be living life or we can be living life rather spontaneously and being really open to whatever comes in life, responding in conscious ways and maybe looking at that map can help just to give a bit of perspective to see how everything’s fitting into the wider scale of life.
Be open to many different things and different systems, different practices, different support systems. We can benefit most from astrology if we have it integrated as part of a wider collection of different techniques and different philosophical, spiritual perspectives that really help us to navigate this life in the best way possible.
Even in the past, astrology wasn’t a solitary art, it was always a part of something much bigger. The hermetic sciences, one of the more ancient systems of the past, incorporated different meditation processes, different rituals that people performed and astrology was a fundamental cornerstone of that. But it wasn’t just looking at things. It was about engaging with life in this proactive conscious way in order to be co creating with life the best possible outcome not just for oneself but for all all of life around.
Astrology is not supposed to take the freedom of living away from you. Failure is just a step to success. Many mythological heroes had to confront storms as at sea as part of their paths as part of their journey to becoming a hero, a hero of growing and that’s ultimately what allowed them to achieve success because they had to pass all these tests on the way to the final battle. Life is the same. It’s just a very romantic description of life, but it works like that for us as well.
A personal anecdote that kind of relates to these difficulties or these failures and how they relate to the let’s say traditionally malefic planets. During my Saturn return, I (Etienne) had issues with health and things to the point where I didn’t really have energy for many things but what it did give me was I can’t do anything apart from develop my musical practice. And so it basically just caused this restriction which forced me to really just work on one thing that was really important for my soul.
And what I kind of gleaned from that and what I managed to take out from that was that we can actually approach these malefic transits or difficult moments in a very positive way in the sense of actually looking forward to it. It’s like, okay, there’s going to be something hard. Okay, let’s do it. And it’s like when people do their exercise routines, they go to the gym. It’s something similar. It’s that Marsy feel where you know this is going to be tough. I’m going to have to fight. I’m going to sweat, but I know that it’s going to do me good. And I know that I’m going to feel amazing afterwards if I really put in the effort, put in the graft, put in the sweat. So if we look at these difficult things from the right perspective, it becomes something not that we cower away from but something that we lean into.
If we lean into the difficult things in life, then we can actually find a deeper joy even in the most difficult experiences. It is not easy but it’s possible and it’s something that hopefully every one of us can develop and cultivate a bit more of in our lives.
I(Vera) wouldn’t be here and studying astrology and occupying myself with spiritual pursuits if it was not for bad health. Sometimes difficult parts of life can push us into things we love. There is a viral story um where a peasant in China um broke his leg and his neighbor said “Oh,t such a pity you broke your leg.” and then he replied “”We’ll see” on the next day there was a military draft and he got to stay home because his leg broke and his neighbor again said “Oh, that’s great” and he again replied “Oh, we’ll see” And this went on for his whole life. So don’t count things as good or bad before you have experienced your full life because only then you can grasp the sense of everything that’s happened to you.
Astrology can describe a person – their body, their character, their kind of life experiences. This raises a questions – are these kinds of approaches to life something that is also just kind of ingrained in the chart? Or is it something that we’re all growing into and something we’re moving towards? Yet usually you’ll find those that do develop those philosophical outlooks are the ones that tend to go through more difficult experiences in life.
But in its descriptive abilities, astrology does help to see and understand oneself better from this outside, from a neutral perspective. This includes the emotional world, the patterns of thought, the priorities, the values. All of these can be helpful to understand where certain personality traits can be very beneficial and positive in making our life balanced and what areas might not be necessarily helping us. Having this perspective from astrology can be helpful to see what areas of our character are helpful and of a hindrance.
We can even use astrology to create suitable routines and habits for maintaining better physical or mental health or even we can use it to help us deal with certain more difficult habits we have formed earlier in our life. It can give us guidance on important life areas like career, relationships.
It is great to have our questions answered but again the risk is that it becomes an excuse to not not really work on oneself. If one takes on the notion that well, astrology says that and so I can’t change that, then they risk never working on their weaknesses, never trying to develop themselves. If astrology says, “Oh, you are good at that,” then falling into the trap that no work at that is needed. But often the things we’re weakest at we need to work on. The things that we’re strong with, we need to work on those, too.
For a musician, it doesn’t matter how talented you are, if you don’t practice every day, you’re not going to be very good. Astrology talks about talent, but innate talents contributes maybe 10% to your success and it’s the other 90% that’s kind of up to you. There might be things in the chart that say: “this person is more disciplined” but someone who’s innately disciplined will just be having to have more discipline in their life in order to achieve success because that discipline comes easier. Somebody who doesn’t have much discipline innately. They will have to work hard in order to be disciplined. But there the level of discipline that they need in order to achieve their goals will probably be a bit less than the person who’s already got that vast reserve of discipline as an innate quality.
It doesn’t matter strength or weakness, we still need to be working and putting in an effort to really move forward. The person that’s going to be really disciplined is probably going to crave creativity. We are always going to find qualities in ourselves that we lack and things that we’re good at. We can use astrology to challenge our limiting beliefs and not reinforce them.
If you’re especially low on self worth and struggling in your work and hear that your work life is difficult, don’t use it to self-destruct in your mind. There is a fine balance between accepting difficulty and desperation plus just renouncing action.
James Braha (in The Braha Sutras) equates negative thoughts to a tape recorder of messages that just play in the mind every once in a while, you’ll just have these messages replaying themselves and so you’ll have to listen to them you’ll have to listen in your mind but the point where we do the work is that place where we hear those thoughts, we hear those messages as they might be coming from really early childhood, from one or two years old. And those are hard things to really work on and actually get rid of. But what we can do is we can decide, okay, I remember that voice. I remember that message, but I know that it’s not true. And I know that I don’t need to listen to it. And I can decide to act and live as if those messages aren’t real. And as if those messages don’t impact me. So it just becomes a bit of a background noise, a background hum that we just have to kind of live with. Just like someone might have an annoying knee pain that comes with bad weather.
It’s just something you live with. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but through experience and putting in the work, they can just become very minor discomforts rather than things that really take us away from leading an overall happy and joyful life. We don’t leave the shopping center just because we dislike the music. We still go on with the things we need to go on with.
Astrology is a great starting point of self-reflection but not a substitute for such. It is not a magic one that solves your problems. You still need to do the work after recognizing maybe with the help of astrology where your issues come from. And the person in our example, struggling with low self worth – they actually need to do the work with a therapist to fix that. Communication between different disciplines is important. A medical problem has to be seen by a licensed medical practitioner,, a doctor or a herbalist, someone who is actually trained in that.
Where astrology shines is to help to see where the issue is, so that it can then be taken to the next steps, the next level of actual resolution. And thinking of astrology as a map of your life that you actually need to walk through. That’s the path and the surroundings of your life. You need to see with your own eyes and you need to be strong enough to sustain the walk that you have in front of you and you need to be strong enough to carry your luggage. You need other tools to achieve that.
And it’s up to you if you decide to walk the easier path you see and keep longing for the difficult cliffs in the distance, that actually your heart longs for, or you decide to go for those cliffs and then decide to get stuck there. But you need strength for both. There’s no escape. It’s going to be hard and easy either way you go. It is just a different mix, a different constellation of challenges and joy.
Synastry (astrology of the relationship between two people) brings its own set of challenges). When you’re using charts or looking at charts of people that you’re getting to know in a fresh relationship, this can bring a lot of risks and danger. There can be a somewhat false sense of knowing someone and so you can end up judging them based on presumptions or even past experience. It’s very hard to know sometimes how these configurations and these planets are expressing themselves in each individual. Even a trained astrologer can find it difficult to assess exactly how it’s going to play out in this particular story. It is impossible to actually predict how this precise person is going to be and act at this precise time. We all go through developments in life, so even meeting the same person 10 years later might bring you meeting different expressions of different planets in that person. Also depending on the moral strength of the person, which we cannot judge from a chart, the life is lived differently.
A strong Neptune can bring a drinking habits, but it can also bring an extremely spiritual direction to a certain life. And one can just say it’s the one or the other or both in different parts of life. We cannot exclude um different expressions of planets with a high accuracy.
Astrology is always a conversation between the client and the astrologer. That potential pitfall when you’re dealing with relationships is – don’t jump to conclusions. Our dear teacher Rod Suskin advised us to do sinastry reading only when the relationship has been established for at least an year. From there you can really start to see well how these planets interact, what are the kinds of dynamics that might be going on, that might have established and what might be the potential resolution to those.
But really trying to understand another person and how everything is going to play out just based on the chart is potentially going to limit you from having the necessary experiences and necessary opportunities to really build those those relationships and build those connections to other people that in one way or another, if it’s a good relationship or bad relationship, has great potential to really help you in your personal development.
So obviously if there are red flags, big red flags in a relationship, you have to take those into consideration and maybe end it but that’s not something you want to base wholly on an astrological chart.
That brings us to psychological and ethical issues connected to astrology because on one hand there is a high potential for anxiety, fatalism and that depends highly on our world view which we talked about quite extensively at the beginning.
When we use astrology, we need to challenge every thought that comes up in a consultation by asking ourselves, is this thought actually helpful for my life? Is it realistic? And if not, we need to let that go and accept it as a game of the mind. And even if needed, confront our astrologer, ask for clarification. It’s not a one-way street. Iit’s a process and it’s a journey and there’s always a temptation to want to find the easy answer, we all really want that.
There’s a part of ourselves, it doesn’t matter how disciplined or how spiritual someone is, there’s always a part of the self that just wants to have things easy and resolved and just not have to worry but that’s just not how things really go in life. I hate bursting people’s bubbles, but do not to fall into the trap that using astrology as an easy out.
And if you notice that you do get overwhelmed because sometimes it’s hard to control the mind, it could be indicative that it might be the wrong medium for you. It might not be the best tool for you or it might just not be the best tool at that moment. Take a step back, focus on other things. Keeps yourself rooted in the world, in the present . When we give readings it takes the energy so high it feels like buzzing, flying around in the planets and something else is needed to just bring one back to earth. It’s good to have different activities that help to counteract that.
Because astrology if you become dependent on it is as bad a dependence as any other thing and astrologers are just humans. There are a lot of positives to take out of astrology but everything you hear it’s not going to be perfect. It’s going to be through the lens of another person.
We were taught by Rod Suskin to treat ourselves as mirrors and to try to be as neutral as possible. Honestly, it’s really difficult. So everything an astrologer says should be taken with a grain of salt and you should always listen to your intuition, your feelings, insights and logic should be involved in rational decision making. Miracles do sometimes happen. Doors open for you, but you still have to walk through them. You have to invest the work and effort necessary to get somewhere.
And yeah, when talking about astrologers, it’s absolutely necessary to avoid people who try to make you dependable on them and bind you to them through undermining your confidence, creating a sense of being powerless and presenting themselves as more powerful than you.
If you feel that let’s say consultation with an astrologer is creating fear and anxiety, this is something that needs to be discussed with the astrologer for one um because sometimes they don’t know and we can respond to different things that are being mentioned in a chart in so many different ways. One thing that is difficult for one person to hear doesn’t bother another. This is something we both have experienced in the role of the practitioner but also the client. It’s good to be open with how you’re responding to those things so that the astrologer can really clarify and put that into a context that takes away a little bit of that edge.
And more generally, if that doesn’t happen and you find consultation with an astrologer creates fear and anxiety, it’s probably a sign that this person is not the best astrologer for you. Maybe they’re very good for other people, but maybe not the best person to be working with for you. You should pick someone you are comfortable working with.
Generally the most important thing is that an astrologer shows a capacity to be trustworthy to maintain the privacy of of the consultation, a capacity for compassion, humility and honesty. Those are really important in the sense that astrologers need to be carrying a very high level of let’s say moral compass in order to be practicing well.
It also brings up this idea that one can let oneself become dependent on readings and things like that. Don’t give away your power to others. Having a dependency on a particular astrologer to be guiding you every little step of your life, it’s probably not going to be very beneficial. Hopefully, an astrologer should be there to help guide you to become self-sufficient. So, if you notice that consultations are going in a way where this astrologer is even encouraging you to be taking more consultations in order to work through something, be a bit aware.
I (Etienne) want my client, if I can give them a good enough reading that they never have to come back, that’s the best possible outcome. But that’s probably not going to work out that way because we all have our limits it’s like a doctor never wants to see their patient again but …
Another thing that our teacher Rod Suskin regularly says is that astrology is a human creation. It might have come from ancient wisdom, from people of the past, from cultures that were more spiritually minded than our
own. And that therefore has a lot to give, but it’s human. So, it’s not perfect. There’s going to be an error. There’s a margin of error with it. It is not the perfect thing that many people try or want it to be. Be a bit more realistic on what it can and cannot provide.
It is amazing. It’s incredibly useful. It can change people’s lives. Reading can be so beneficial. It can help in so many ways. But it’s not perfect and it will never be perfect because human beings, the human mind, the human rationale will never be capable of comprehending the entirety of the universe. So well, I would argue that the universe in itself is perfect in its imperfection because it’s a constantly developing structure, spirit, energy. Enjoy astrology but always remember it’s a tool. Always put yourself at an eye level with your astrologer. Use it in a spiritual perspective and not separate from your beliefs. Have a wonderful journey, a good path with astrology and may it be for the best benefit and health of mind, body and soul.
